Management and Marketing
Welcome to the Department of Management and Marketing!
The Department of Management and Marketing at the University of North Alabama offers students BBA degrees in Marketing and Professional Management with a choice of four concentrations: Entrepreneurship, General Management, Hospitality Management, and Human Resource Management. Students both inside and outside the College of Business can earn minors in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing.
Our department is focused on student success. We strive to provide our majors with a solid foundation in business with specialized degree programs in management and marketing. Our department has a very dedicated staff and a talented, well-qualified faculty. The department is composed of 11 full-time faculty members, 7 of whom have doctorates in their teaching fields and 3 are currently in various stages of earning their doctorate. The faculty is dedicated to academic excellence in the classroom and committed to conducting academic research which enhances their classroom performance. Our students will be exposed to the skills necessary to be successful in their chosen major within our department.
Internships are often available for eligible junior and senior students. There are several scholarships available for Management and Marketing students to apply which are awarded each year. Students earning Management and Marketing degrees from UNA have gone on to have careers with Listerhill Credit Union, TVA, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Bank Independent, State Farm, Redstone Arsenal, SCA Tissue, to name just a few of the firms which have employed our graduates.

Professional Management Major
The Professional Management Major is a 24 hour degree program consisting of eight 3-hour courses. All Professional Management majors must take the following five 3-hour courses and then may select one of the four concentration options (see below) which consist of three 3-hour courses.

Marketing Major
The Marketing Major is a 24 hour degree program consisting of eight 3-hour courses. All students must take the prescribed six 3-hour courses and then must take two 3-hour elective courses at the 300/400 level. The student can take two 3-hour Marketing elective or take one 3-hour Marketing elective and one 3-hour 300/400 level business elective of their choice.

MBA Concentrations in Management and Marketing
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a 34 hour degree program consisting of eleven 3-hour courses and one 1-hour course . The Department of Management and Marketing supports three concentrations in the MBA program: Professional Concentration, Health Care Management Concentration and the International Business Concentration. To earn an MBA with one of the above concentrations, all students must take the nine required courses listed below (25 hours) and one of the three nine-hour concentrations for a total of 34 hours.

Human Resources Management
Students selecting to major in Human Resources Management follow a curriculum which will prepare them for a career in this area. This major is also excellent preparation for any area in business which requires knowledge of the human resource function. Students who earn this degree will have the basic knowledge needed to begin preparation for the SPHR or PHR certification.
